Statement from Jon O’Brien, President of Catholics for Choice, on Whole Woman’s Health Decision

Catholics for Choice president Jon O’Brien issued the following statement reacting to the US Supreme Court’s decision in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt:

Our faith’s teachings demand that we respect the conscience-based decisions people make, including the right to continue or end a pregnancy. This ruling appears to acknowledge that women have the right to make a decision but not necessarily act on it. On this last day of the court’s session, Americans are left confused by what exactly the court ruled. This will be a long, difficult summer for women and their families in Texas and across the US. The best way to ensure that this unending stream of antichoice legislation stops is for Americans to vote with their conscience in November.
